Hello,i recently got powercolor R9 380x PCS+ MYST edition 2nd hand.I cleaned the old thermal paste and placed some MX4.The problem is my GPU is running too hot and too loud.it reaches 80 grad Celsius after an hour or two of gaming. And when the card gets 70+ grad it becomes very very loud and the fans are spinning like crazy.I measured the fan size and it is 90mm,but i think 92mm will fit just fine.I can order 2x Arctic Cooling F9 and replace my stock fans, but will it help lower temps and noise? Also will it possible to replace only the vanes and not to do things like this?:

Edit:
I also noticed something very strange. My GPU's stock core and memory speed should be 1020 and 1475,but they are 1002,1425.

Solution
I have a 390x and 144hz monitor. The memory clock always is at the same setting as set, right now 1525hz. Idle has been 62c, load during BF 1 or Hitman 2016 is 75c overclocked to 1100ghz temps go up to 80c. Installed Noctua fans.

Some more questions, do you use a total uninstaller to remove old drivers? Stacked drivers could cause problems you probably know, just have to ask. Also don't buy case fans for your gpu, buy the Arctic acelerro extreme iv, it says 15c cooler than the stock fans and quieter. If you can afford it.

The temperatures are fine for the R9. Is there any Vram thermal pads or heatsyncs on? You should check those temperatures also with gpu-z or another software. You would be better off buying a Arctic accelero xtreme iv which is made to fit the gpu. And a lot quieter. Or use MSI Afterburner 4.3 to control the gpu fans manually.

i have read that these temps are not dangerous for an R9,but here - http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/powercolor_pcs_r9_380x_myst/8.htm - the temps are far far lower than mine.
There are no vram thermal pads.

Have you tried Afterburner? Also do you have the latest driver installed, clean uninstall?

You can try flashing the bios to get the core clock speed up, find out what Powercolor's warranty is on flashing. People flash to the latest bios to fix gpu problems.
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?architecture=&manufacturer=&model=&interface=&memType=GDDR5&memSize=&since=
There's youtube videos on how to do this.

i am using msi afterburner from a long time.My current fan settings make the gpu fan speed to 100% if it reaches 70 grad and it still goes above 75 grad.i will see about the bios flashing. Is it safe to do?I have no card warranty, because it's 2nd hand and it is bought from another country.

Ambient temp is around 27 grad last few days. When you said about the idle temps i just checked them and noticed something very strange. Before i changed the thermal paste idle was 30,but load was reaching 85.Now after i have changed the paste idle is 46,but as i already said load is 75-80.

About what silver cooling thing are you talking about?

The bios flashing is done by many people, search on youtube. If you follow their instructions, it is very easy with some risk. The core clock at 1002 is an odd number, you didn't say when you saw that reading, in a game or idle? Have you tried overclocking to 1020?

yes it is very odd number, but when i opened the link you sent me and checked for a bios for my gpu it turned out there are 2 models, one is with 1002mhz core clock and the other one is the more popular with 1020.Very strange but i clocked it up to 1020 easily,so this is a no problem.

I just flashed my gpu bios. The temperatures didn't improve but atleast now my stock core clock is 1020mhz,because i used the bios for the 1020mhz version.Infact they are absolutely the same gpu's just the clocks are different.
i will reapply the thermal paste this monday.

Guys,i found something very interesting.I was reading about an R9 390x and this is what a guy said :
" Warning for people that want to get this card that are running a 120-144hz monitor especially the 144hz monitors your gpu will force lock the memory clock to 1500MHz leading to the GPU Idle temps to be as high as 60 Celsius. This will also make the Maximum temps near to 92 Celsius. This is a warning to users of 120Hz and 144Hz. Even Nvidia users are having these problems with their cards also; but we are having it worse with higher temps. These cards are designed to start the fans at 60 Celsius only at 1% making them a whole lot worse. It is a good card but a bad one for 144hz monitors because of the temps. Playing Games like BF4, SQUAD any game that has to make the card work full time will lead to near 90 Celsius gaming for the cards"
Since i have 144hz monitor,i checked and actually my memory clock is really stuck at 1500mhz even at idle.Do you think this is the problem and any ideas how to fix it?

It sound ago me like your case cooling may be slightly deficient in all honesty.
What case & fan configuration are you using ???

You may not have applied enough paste either when repasting the GPU.
You need a lot more than you would comparitive to a CPU install.

If you are buying more & you're going to reapply again honestly go for some cooler master master gel nano maker

By far the best paste around for gpu use.

I have put a decent amount of paste, for sure it is enough. But i will reapply it as soon as posible.I buy the arctic mx-4 because it is the only one, that they have in the local pc store. My case is silverstone Raven RV-01 with 2x180mm fans.About the gpu memory clock problem ,it explains the high idle temps, but not the load temps.

Yes,i know the rule for the paste, but for some reason i thought i prefer to put a little more.I can't say the exact height, but it isn't something like a ton of paste, just a little more than the usual. Can it actually increase the temps if you put more paste?
