Xbox one x Stronger than my pc?

I'm thinking about buying a 1600$ pc build with a gtx 1070, monitor and os included, i'm planning to build it myself. Should i save about 1k$ and buy a xbox one x? The gtx 1070 is made for 1440p and can't run 4k that well, while the xbox one x can run 4k 60fps, should i just wait till the x comes out and save a ton of money?

Well, 4K at 60 FPS sort of. Many titles will be rendered at a lower resolution and upscaled, just like all previous generation consoles, particularly the X Box.

Native 2560x1440 at 60 FPS is probably going to look a lot better.

Though graphics don't always matter to a lot of people. I'm a lazy gamer, I just upgrade my card when I can't just set it to Ultra and get a playable experience. (Or just because I can)

Here is the big catch with the one x.
It's enhanced games can go UP TO 4k and UP TO 60 fps.
So in other words and no suprise. A 500$ box can't run AAA games at 4k.
Also there is no info on the cpu and the gpu delivers a 6 tflops of performance (not a good way to measure it but whatever it's information).
Also don't forget you need to pay xbox live to play online, don't often get sales and pay extra for a game at launch. Also most people still need a pc to do their basic work on.
It's up to you.

Also a gtx 1070 + ryzen build shouldn't cost that much.

PCs will always have the power and technology advantage over consoles if you're willing to pay for it.

The only thing I would suggest you consider is what games you want to play and which platform they will be available on.

You can't get something for nothing. The new Xbox, from what I've read, will be dependent on developers on resolution and framerate. In other words, no it will not do 4k at 60fps as some kind of standard level of performance. Developers will be able to optimize games for 4k, but they'll have to compromise in some other way. Maybe the graphics will be less detailed, maybe framerate will be less than 60fps. OR maybe they'll prioritize 60fps, but it won't be native 4k and maybe the game world will have less detail.

They can squeeze a lot of extra performance from a console, due to lower overhead involved, but they can't work miracles lol.

I would suggest a better question: Are you prepared to constantly do updates, virus / malware checks, cleaning the computer out monthly, dealing with compatibility, random issues, 5 years ONLY lifespan, etc. of a PC?

Or are you more accustomed to just turning on the 'machine' and just playing, no thought or numerous 'steps', just flip the switch and 'game'; done. ?

If your more attuned (no problem being) the latter then stick to consoles. They ALWAYS will play games AS 'seen advertised' and for many many years (heck they still released games into 2016 for the 2006 PS3!) as compared to PC which by year 3 you need to again look at 'upgrading' to keep the 'performance' you got when you first unboxed the PC. by year 5 you have to totally replace the PC, because it isn't supported, out of warranty, not compatible, and no upgrade paths (for example people whom have DDR3 systems right now can't use any of the motherboard, RAM, etc. because they simply don't work on the new generation systems).

If your willing to put up with these high demands (think like having a Street Racer car or such) then you will get max 'balls to the wall performance' over any console because the changes to increase performance come alot faster to PC than to XBox or PS4 (which should have a PS5 coming out though in the near future as well. but you can grab the limited edition GOLD edition this week with 1TB drive for only $249 per Sony) .

Just your willingness to DEAL ON YOUR OWN alot of what we all had the HEAVY learning curve to deal with (and costs with it).

1. Consoles also have constant update
2. There are already issues as proven with the ps pro. Games either run well on both, run well on the original or run well on the pro. It's often the second option
3. Compatibility and such isn't really a problem anymore only older games have issues (like 5+ years older).
4. If you build a decent pc you can last the whole console generation (what I've been doing).
5. Don't forget the subscription fee for online and more expensive games (less sales and higher price straight off).

Monthly cleaning? That is quite extreme. All about the fan configuration and the environment. Consoles should be dusted out regularly as well. Would have prevented a lot of the old RROD problems in the past.

You only get malware and viruses if you go to questionable places on the internet. And it isn't like consoles are immune, they can be targeted, and you honestly have a lot less options if something went wrong. Factory reset likely. And you have the networks themselves, like Sony getting hacked all those times.

I would agree on compatibility, but that isn't too common a problem. If you build it and it works, all set.

5 Year lifespan, maybe. You might want to upgrade the CPU in five years, but the nice thing is you can upgrade. Mid-range GPU every three years while selling the old one, you aren't out that much money.

And if you look at consoles the time between consoles has never been shorter.

I also see the time between revisions getting shorter and shorter because they need to sell them cheap enough but still be able to keep up with the industry. They can pull a 7th gen anymore.
