I was just wondering if getting 2 packs of 2x 4GB of DDR3 for a total of 16GB works for my P8Z77-V LX ASUS motherboard?

I'm sure it'll work as it has 4x DIMM but I just need verifying that my motherboard is capable of doing so and that it'll all fit.

Thanks,

Memory manufacturers guarantee the rated speed and timings of any memory to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in. If you are adding an additional set of memory, the rated speed and timings may not work due to the extra stress on the memory controller. Therefore, you will need to relax the timings and/or frequencies in order to get two sets of memory to work. Another option you may need to do is increase the dram voltages or reducing the cpu multiplier.

I personally have 2*2*4gb kits in that exact board but I also had 6 kits laying around when I built it I couldn't get the first two sets I tried to play nice the second set worked at rated speeds. Third sets I tried managed to oc a bit so I stuck with them

That's good to know, I'll try and find a 2x 8gb kit then.
Thanks

So it's a bad idea to get 4x 4gb sticks if I don't plan on setting any speeds?
