High CPU Usage While Downloading Games

I just got a new router which doubled my internet speed from 100Mb/s to 200. Now whenever I am downloading game on steam my whole computer starts having issues.
For example, my cursor becomes laggy and my keyboards begins to have weird gliches where keys get stuck.
This didn't start happening until I got my new speeds. So far I've tried updating my bios, but that didn't help.
My laptop is an MSI GT62VR so the specs are really beefy.

Freezing like that should NOT be happening regardless of download speeds. Your computer has priorities assigned to thinks like the mouse.

It sounds like an underlying issue is being exposed, probably a software problem that may require to reinstall critical drivers.

If it's Windows 10 consider doing an in-place upgrade after testing your memory with Memtest86 www.memtest86.com

W10 Upgrade (In-Place):
a) Microsoft site-> media creation tool-> download and create USB or DVD for W10 (same version such as W10 Home 64-bit).

b) run setup from the USB/DVD from W10 desktop

c) do not put in key if prompted, and make sure to select to KEEP APPLICATIONS AND DATA

d) finish, then allow it to do MS Updates

e) test
