Hello all,

I recently put together a new pc for my stepfather's work and I am getting nervous because it is not booting up. The fans and led's come on, but no beeping or display are present. I need your help.

Specs:
GIGABYTE GA-B250M-DS3H
Intel Core i7-7700
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8)
PNY Quadro M2000
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive
WD Blue 250GB Internal SSD
EVGA 500 W1
CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES 200R
ASUS DVD-RW

Ok, originally I put everything together like I normally would and went to bootup and install the OS. Fans turned on and led's illuminated. But no display.
I disconnected graphics card and tried the hdmi port, then dvi port.
I took out 2nd stick of ram, and cycled power trying each ram port separately.

took everything out of case. checked voltages on psu, all looks good. Breadboarded and I still cant find the problem. I get no beeps with just cpu/hsf and psu. I'm not 100% if I will because I just learned not every mobo has a speaker, but I would expect some sort of warning. Without the ram, the pc just turns off after a few seconds and back on. Which i have seen before.

I'm getting worried the motherboard is DOA. I have never used the hyper 212 evo before and was hoping it might be the motherboard not recognizing the fan or something simple like that. That is something I have not tried.

I have built a few computers but I am still fairly inexperienced. I am familiar with electronics though so ill try to keep up.

I believe that is all that I've tried.

Thank you for your time,

Anthony

Well it's highly unlikely, but it could be that the integrated graphics aren't working(again, a very rare case), so installing the GPU might help. But since you already tried that, the only culprit which seems to remain is the motherboard.

Also, does your display show some kind of error, like 'No Input Signal' or 'Video Jack Unplugged' or anything of that sort? Or does it just show a black screen?

Sorry I didn't read that you didn't have the GPU installed, you can disregard those previous suggestions.
If you put everything together, except the GPU, and connect the display to the motherboard, AND WAIT 5-10 minutes, does anything show up?
Are you sure the monitor is on the right SOURCE for video? (i.e. HDMI and not VGA/DVI, whatever cable you're using)

Computers only beep if they have a case/motherboard speaker installed. Custom built systems usually don't include one, but they can be added if the motherboard supports one. Assuming you can find beep codes out there.

I have plugged in everything, but i did not wait for 5-10 minutes. When i took the gpu out originally, i have not reinstalled it again.

I am sure about the video source, i have even tried multiple displays and a tv

make sure the evo not screwed in so far it crushing the lid of the cpu into the cpu chip. on the mb there two power plugs the 24 pin and 4/8 pin. on the 8 pin cable make sure your using the cable marked cpu not vga. check for bent pins under the cpu chip and make sure the cpu locked in.

I don't have a spare computer to try the GPU. But the computer doesn't start without the GPU regardless. Wouldn't that rule it out?

Are you talking about removing the GPU that is integrated on the motherboard/CPU, or referring to the M2000. I am not familiar with how to remove from motherboard, if there is one. I am getting confused. From my understanding the cpu has integrated graphics, so I do not need a dedicated graphics card plugged in to the pc at all for it to Post and show a display.

and the m2000 is sitting in the box that it came in, and is not attached to the pc in anyway.

yea the displays act like nothing is plugged in. like "no input signal". It is not just a black screen. I think im going to buckle down and re-order a motherboard. I do not really know what else it could be. Thanks for your help

It ended up being the power supply. I had a different power supply in the closet that I forgot about and thought I would try it to ease my mind before ordering something. I'm glad I did. Thanks for all of the help
