Hi all,
I've been trying to get obs to stream correctly on twitch for the past few days. I've been having non-stop problems and I can honestly say I need help.

When streaming I've noticed massive performance drops. With nothing really being taxed at all. (frame drops on league? idk why) I also cannot stream games like R6 siege, while the framerate stays above 60 the stream appears to stutter out of control.

OBS is saying that I'm having an encoding overload. Ive tried bitrates all the way down to 2500 and tried Nivida Nvec as well as x264. I've also tried changing the cpu preset to no avail.

The issue isn't a hardware or bandwidth one as listed below:
My specs:
i7 4790k (hitting full boost)
16gb Kingston HyperX FURY 1866Mhz
Gigabyte z97x gaming 7
Zotac AMP! GTX 1080
My bandwidth (according to google's speedtest using cat6 ethernet on a gigabit ethernet controller):
206.1 Mbps down
11.8 Mbps up (this is slower than usual, it's usually around 25, idk i hate comcast)

Any help would be appreciated!

What do you mean "down to 2500"? Typically you don't want to go over 3500 at most (the number in the box not the actual bitrate - 2500 is 2.5 megabit). Also resolution. What resolution you trying to stream at? 720p is the norm at 2500, can get 1080p at 3500 but you risk choppy vid because Twitch hates you if you are not a partner (even at 2500 720p30 you are lucky to have a stable stream).

To recap, try 3000 with a 720p downscale. If that works try increasing the resolution to 1080p and see how it fairs. Keep in mind this is at 30 fps.

I've tried 2500 bitrate on 720p and 2000-6000 bitrate on 1080p, no change on any of them =/
twitch allows up to 6k now.

the issue here shouldn't be the ability to produce a stream at 1080p. I have the horsepower and the bandwidth to support it.

finally had a chance to try it and it was still having the same problem, not quite sure why. Tried recording through OBS, and didn't see any stutter. My connection should be fine too, I have a pretty solid connection as well (referring to original post) so I'm not sure what exactly is going on here.
