Hey guys so im mainly looking into 1440p but want to future proof just saw the game anthem and is something i want to be able to run 1440p 60+fps so i was wondering if a 1070 would do the trick or should i get the 1080 also im wondering if i should upgrade anything else before getting the GPU, this is what i have now:

MOBO h97 pc mate
I7 4790k
8gb ddr3
Msi gtx 960 100me 2gb
500w psu

I was thinking about gettng 16gb ram should i or 8gb is good for now.

Thanks

8GB should be good for now, but 16GB is just that sweet spot. So even though it's not necessary, it is recommended, especially if you are thinking about editing.

As far as GPU goes, if you have the budget to get the 1080, then get the 1080, no question. However, if budget does play a role, then get the 1070. The 1070 is not a bad card at all. It should handle most 1440p games at 60FPS. However, at least with the 1080, you know you are set, and would not run into any problems, especially since it's UNDER $500 now.

That's just my three cents.

You might consider moving to 16GB of RAM, but 8GB is enough for the vast majority. What power supply do you have specifically?

Be aware that virtually any (modern) video card can hit 60fps, provided you play with your graphical settings a bit. A 1070 should be able to max out most games, but in a handful you might need to do something like drop shadows from "Ultra" to "Very High".

I have the evga 500w thats white sorry im at work and don't exactly remember the specific name of it, and i want to play on high to ultra current games and ones thatare coming out

It should be able to handle it, but I would upgrade to a Seasonic or a Corsair RMx series if possible. Or EVGA SuperNOVA G3 series. You don't want to risk it by using a PSU that may or may not have good quality parts.

Yes because you are not going to use more than 450w of power. But you don't want 500 as it's cutting it close. 650 is good as it should give you some buffer. Any of the EVGA G3 or Corsair RMx would work.
