I have my primary wifi router in my hall which is far from my room and am unable to get an ethernet wire to my room too_Other than getting a powerline adapter what are my alternatives? Using a Netgear 300 mbps repeater and a ethernet cable from that to my pc, will it give me max speeds?

Solution
Probably not 'max' speeds, no.

IF you're far enough away (or with enough obstructions) to not pick up Wifi, and cannot run ethernet...... and your home is (relatively) new, Powerline would be a solid option.

You can configure a lot of old routers (maybe you have one laying around?) to be a repeater. The problem there is it's still Wifi based (and in your case wifi in, ethernet out). Still potential for added latency and, depending on how far from your main router you need to place it to be able to run an ethernet cable, it may have to deal with the distance/obstruction issue you're dealing with for wifi.

**EDIT** Actually, your post isn't too clear as to whether you simply cannot get ethernet, or also cannot get Wifi in your...

Why don't you want to use a powerline? They can be really good - my company has installed them as a no-mess alternative to ethernet several times in old properties where the walls are 18 inches+ thick so wi-fi isn't viable.

Yes - believe me as an IT business owner that specialises in resolving 'unusual' installation issues, I know all of those things - my question to the OP was is there a reason why powerlines are totally out of the question?

UPDATE: I bought the tplink powerline adapter and love it.
I was unaware of the speeds it would give as a neighbor had many problems with the powerline adapter.
The adapter works perfect in my house.

Glad you found a solution :)
