Hi, im new to this whole overclocking thing, and im trying it on an old unlocked amd x2 555be, im stable at 4 cores 3.5ghz atm, but im having trouble setting a fixed voltage. I set it to 1.38 just to get me started, and it just spikes up and down from 1.376 on idle and 1.424 when under full load. Using an msi 770 c45 mobo. Any help is much appreaciated!

I can't recommend what speed you run your cpu at. However if you do oc the nb, lower the memory speed first it will raise as you increase the multiplier.

Good luck with it.

The cpu vcore is going to raise up and down. The better the power supply the less it will fluctuate. That said, you can try to give it more stability by turning on LLC in the bios. Some of the older motherboards do not have this feature. If your not experiencing any crashes I would not worry too much.

Thanks for the answer. Now i got it stable at 3.6ghz at 1.42 core voltage, with max going up to 1.462. I do have an aftermarket cooler, and have had no trouble with temps. Should i aim higher or are the volts just gonna cut me off? Btw i did my clocking just by increasing the core multiplier and not the old-school bus way. Should i also overclock the cpu nb, as ive heard it had huge effect on phenom processors. And if i do overclock the nb, do i also have to match the ram speed manually? I have 2 1333mhz ddr3 sticks.
Just trying to squeeze everything i can out of this system, since im gonna be upgrading fairly soon.

Thanks again!
