I seem to be having an issue with my GPU. This issue started this morning when playing Resident Evil 7. I noticed green flickering pixels on the darker colours, I didn't take much notice at first, but after a while it started to get annoying.

I started playing GTA V and the same issue occurred. It's hard to describe, it almost looks like green glitter.

I've tested the GPU using FurMark and there's no noticeable pixels and another weird thing is when the game is windowed the issue doesn't happen.

I have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed so I'm a bit confused as to why it's happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution

Typically, this problem would be a GPU or PSU problem. At least, those are the normal culprits for artifacts like that. I was thinking steam, because those games can be run on steam, but FurMark can't be. Ignore that though.

Go download Display Driver Uninstaller. Use that and install only the latest driver update. Could be conflicting drivers causing this for you

Thank you for the help, I'll give that a go and will post back with the results.

EDIT - Followed your instructions with DDU and found that there was 2 sets of drivers installed! I had forgot to uninstall the drivers I had for the GTX 1050Ti and they must have been conflicting!

You're an absolute life saver! I was about to throw the card out as I was adamant that it was an issue with the GPU. Just goes to show you that not all issues are hardware related, in this case it was software.

Happy to help, just remember every time you install new drivers to do a clean installation. That should make sure they dont conflict
