If it works, then it works. It's not going to harm it all. However, you may have to re-install Windows because you are going through a massive driver change. If this is a secondary drive, you will have to re-install programs as well. If it's just documents (music, videos, spreadsheets, pictures, etc) then it's just like a USB drive and can go anywhere.
