Laptop stuttering due to CPU throttle?

Hi,
So I just bought a new laptop (Asus UX330 if any1 concerns) but it has a problem. I used it for about half an hour and it was fine. After that it required a big update from Windows 10, I did it but then come the problem. About once every 10 mins there is a stutter which almost freezes the laptop entirely (move barely moves, apps run really slow). I notice in the CPU behavior the speed it runs at that time is down to around 300 ~ 400 Mhz and nearly 100% usage. I wonder what is the problem here and is it because of the update? The laptop is new so I think all hardwares’ drivers are up to date. Also I use balance battery mode (only 2 options balance and saving mode)

Odds are you are thermal throttling, it's very common on small for factor laptops. There is technically an option for you to help with this if you are confident in your ability to tinker.

You could try and replace the thermal paste on the cpu, a lot of manufacturers use low quality thermal paste, so you could change it. This can void some manufacturer's warranties, so if that worries you, you can ask asus if it will void the warranties. However, if you don't have any stickers to pull up you should be fine to do so. I you choose to do so, there should be some guides on youtube to use to help you through the disassembly. As far as the thermal paste goes, I recommend Arctic MX4, it's nonconductive, so you don't have to worry as much...

Thank you for your reply.
I think I have found the problem. It is strange that after I updated my Windows 10, there is a small flash of screen every time I right click a file, so I used a small tool called Shell Extension Manager to disable files that cause error with the explorer. So I disabled about 5 of them (and I didn't remember which one) and somehow my Intel Graphic tray disappeared as also the integration for Winrar. After I updated my chipset driver, tweak a bit in the tool Shell EM, and put the laptop to sleep, now it seems the problem is fixed for now (Intel Tray and Winrar integration comeback too) and I have no idea why it worked because before I put the laptop to sleep nothing changed. I have no tools to crack up the laptop with me now so it's a no no for me to change thermal paste, and the thermal sensor looks quite okay.
