I've had this card for about 2-3 years now and haven't had much trouble with it until the past month or so. The drivers started failing often whenever playing nba 2k17, and occasionally failed when playing overwatch. I made sure my drivers were updated and set my graphics card to stock (or at least that's what msi afterburner told me). The problems still persisted and I kept getting messages telling me to turn down my OC.

Today while watching netflix my computer freaked out. I have two monitors, my Asus ROG swift when yellow and other asus 24" when white. The audio kept playing while glitching out a bit. I smelled a feint burning electrical smell from my computer and immediately shut off the surge protector outlet. The graphics card was hot to the touch, cpu was warm.

I left for classes and came back 2 hours later and booted in safe mode. Tried to reinstall the graphics card driver through auto-search and rebooted. After the windows logo appears, my screen goes blank and eventually my monitor displays the no input message. The computer will operate what seems to be normally in safe mode, however the graphics card still gets very hot. in safemode, MSI afterburner doesn't detect my card at all.

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!

I open the pc to try and find where the smell came from

Solution
Try to plug in a different power supply. It might be the case. Borrow it from a local shop and see if it works. If not than your gpu in in 90% damaged. :)
