Need opinions on GPU upgrade

Hey guys,

Is it worth upgrading a GTX 970 G1 Gaming to GTX 1080? or should i wait for GTX 2070?
I have a 1080p monitor, not planning to buy a 2k Monitor coz it will cost $540 in my country.

In my opinion, GTX 1080 for 1080p gaming is not needed if you got a 60hz monitor. I'd say stay with the 970.

I would have to concur. The GTX 1080 has far more power than would ever be needed to run at 1080p.

But then again, they are people who will tell you that your GPU won't be good enough in the next 2-3 years.

only if u have a 144hz monitor. the 970 performs almost the same as a 1060. so if u have a 60hz monitor. the 970 is more than enough. if u plan on upgrading ur monitor to a 2k 144hz, a 1080 is a good idea.
