Hello,

When I got home from work today, my connection icon had the yellow exclamation point. I ran the troubleshooter and got the error in the title. I've tried restarting the computer, modem, and router; also connect the computer directly to the modem and neither of those worked. I also did the two things suggested here:

https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/solved-windows-not-automatically-detect-networks-proxy-settings/

That did not work either. I'm not really sure what else I can do. I saw something about manual setting IP addresses, but that's a bit outside my knowledge level. Can anyone suggest anything? Or point me towards a really easy static IP tutorial?

Does you modem have a light which alerts you to internect activity? Is yours on and active? Have you called your internet service provider to see if the problem is on their end? They can run diagnostic tests to eleminate their modem or problems on their lines.
