Should I buy a 1440p 144hz monitor or a GTX 1080?

Hello, the title kind of says it all, I have the option to upgrade either my monitor or my GPU, at the moment I have a 1080p 60hz monitor and a GTX 980, so I was wondering if I could only upgrade 1 of the two, which should I pick? My cpu is a i5 6600k btw.

You possibly could, but you are banking on if someone will pay $300 for that.

If you can add another $100, this is probably the best monitor money can buy with 1440, 144hz, 1ms, and g-sync. you really can't beat it. There is a 27" one for another $100.

I probably could get another 100 from graduation money. Where is the link to the monitor that you were talking about?

It was $399 on amazon, but it went up $30...if you are going to get it..you gotta be quite...it really is a beautiful monitor, especially since Dell makes some of the best displays, including their new 8K

Hahaha, that's actually the exact monitor that I was looking at, but I was thinking about getting the 27 inch version.
