How do you remove drivers from a GPU without disconnecting your display?

Amd card to nvidia - remove drivers first
Nvidia card to amd - remove drivers first
Nvidia to nvidia (as you're doing) or amd to amd - you dont need to remove drivers at all - swap cards & just install the latest ones.
