Graphics Card expert asks about founders edition

Hello fellers , I got two questions. I have a founders edition 1070 and want to get more out of it by doing two things. :

1.Does it makes a huge difference if any than 2 degrees celcius less if I would have actualy MOUNTED another fan straight underneeth the blower style cooler fan , did anyone tried any weird things that come to my mind?

2.Any idea about making my fan be running at 0% while not beying on full load? I think that the only way is to update the bios. I am not sure about MSI's warranty if I do update it. EVGA allows you to do it , so maybe MSI does too. :)

Well...if you're getting the update for the card from the msi support site, I wouldn't think that would void warranty of it any more than their bios update would void their motherboard. Again this is assumption and you're best off asking MSI directly as this is a rather specific (and legal) question.

1. As blow style intakes from the bottom, adding a fan to pump in cold air into it is not going to harm it. Margin of benefit depends on positioning and the rest of the airflow. Something to test.

2. There should be a utility coming with most third party 1070s that allows you to control gpu fans, and at what temperature you want them to kick in. I think with MSI it's called MSI afterburner.

Yes I know that. The thing is that I can not set my fans lower than 27%. It seems that I need to update my cards bios. Do you know how about warranty from msi's side? EVGA allows users to update and don't lose warranty but I don't know how is it with the company I chose. :)

Sorry, I don't. At the moment I've got a gigbyte card and it has this fan stop included where it cuts out completely at certain point I can adjust. I almost never run fans on mine unless I'm watching decent resolution video or gaming so I see where you're coming from. It just didn't occur to me it didn't run on the same principle for all 1070s.

That's the problem that all of the founders edition cards don't have a fan stop thing. But do you know anything about losing warranty when updating the bios with msi cards? I think that msi doesn't allows users to do it. :)
