Heya all,

Just ordered a Phenom 955 BE off a 3rd party seller and when I checked the desc it said Black Edition(125W), but my mobo only supports 95W 955. Will it run normally? I can undervolt it and decrease multiplier if needed. I am using a huge 200mm tower fan to cool off my Athlon II x2 255 3.87GHz.

Mobo is ASrock N68-VS3 UCC
PSU(not that it matters) is Corsair 600w miner edition v2

So I contacted the seller(a technician) and explained to him that I thought it was not a BE, said the same thing as I thought he would - the VRM can burn if I OC it. Waste of upgrade. My cpu fan covers the area and sucks the air, so it should be fine I guess as long as I keep an eye on it.

Next time I should read(literally thought that the normal and BE were the same, exception was that BE doesn't have a fan, hence cheaper) before ordering....

Anyways, I undervolted the CPU from 1.375 to 1.300V and it is working good, but the performance is not so noticeable compared to my Athlon II x2 255 3.9GHz
So you didn't check the CPU compatibility list first? Nice move lol. The area you'll need to cool is those voltage regulator chips, it looks like they're next to the gold heatsink. Those are what's going to fry if the motherboard can't handle it. Undervolting/underclocking kind of defeats the purpose of the upgrade, doesn't it?
