do you have a budget?
and what kinda "gaming" are you looking for. more like the way you play games. for example. do you close everything before you start playing game to look for that few fps different? or do you game with 2 monitor one with games and 2nd with windows searching stuff about the game and also have music playing on the background or playing a movie on the 2nd monitor. if 1st one is your choice you may want to consider Intel cpu (7700) to get the most for your FPS. but if you are like me. you like to have stuff running on the back and game at the same time. the Ryzen will be your pick.

do keep in mind GPU (video card) is much more important then CPU when come to gaming. so depending on your budget you may want to have a mid end (i5 or ryzen 5) for your cpu and put the money on a RX580, 1060, 1070, 1080 or the up coming vega.

if you happen to pick Ryzen to be your CPU. make sure you update your motherboard and fast ram will help you down the road.
