Hello guys
its been along time i did not change the thermal past on my cpu so i decided to do and well i broke a socket pin i don't know how but i did took along time and searching to know that i have a broken pin.
anyways my PC is now working fine with 2 sticks of ram in only 1 channel so they are next to each other, when i try to plug in all of the 4 sticks it just doesn't boot at all even the keyboard and mouse they don't work.
i decided to stay with 2 sticks of ram(16 GB) which is enough but i feel something is wrong when i get any crash which i had even before i broke anything it feel its because of that broken pin!
I'm just not comfy about it.

the question is is this broken pin effecting anything else than not reading all rams?
will it effect overclocking and all other stuff that a normal cpu can do?

and can i by any chance fix this pen? i have been searching a lot its not a very easy task really i even tried myself to stuff in a pin i got from my older motherboard but i couldn't.

and is it ok running 2 sticks of ram next to each other(slot 1,2) i believe its called one channel?

what do you guys suggest (something i can do myself) ?

cpu: Intel core i5 6600k
motherboard: Asus Z170 pro gaming

Thank you.

It won't make a difference if you use it that way for 10 minutes or 10 years. The pin is not fixable, but you can get the CPU socket replaced. Contact Asus to know how much it will cost and then add shipping costs to determine if it's worth it. It may cost as much as a new motherboard and you'll be without that PC for a couple weeks.

i actually noticed higher temps on my CPU that's why i decided to change the paste and thanks for the info.
can i fix this pin myself ? if not is it safe to use my PC from now on without this pin and using 2 sticks of memory only?

i have no problems with cooling for now is all good.
i just want to know is this broken pin going to be a problem in 1,2,3 years ? im really thinking about buying a new motherboard i don't know is the pin fixable is it ok to use the PC for years with a broken pin is it only causing not reading all rams ONLY! i'm afraid if its going lead to more problems.

BTW i have no problem with the loss of performance 16GB and one channel is ok for me.
