only 2 sata ports working

so im using the gigabyte z170x Gaming 3 rev 1.1 motherboard ive been using it for about a bit over half a year and only now ive added 2 hdd, but only 2 of my sata ports are working and now i cant plug my optical drive in, I've tested all the other ports nothing shoes up in windows or my bios, the 2 working ports are port 5 and 4 (its how their label d on my motherboard) its also not the cables ive tried like 5 new sata cables and still nothing ?

If you're using an M.2 drive - that can turn off SATA ports. Beyond that, make sure they're enabled in BIOS.

Actually, looking at the manual, if you install a PCIx4 type M.2 drive in the M.2 connector in the M2D_32G connector it will hard-disable SATA_0 through SATA_3, leaving only SATA_4 and SATA_5 functional.

If you want access to all your SATA ports, you'll need to put your M.2 drive in the port labeled M2A_32G connector, that allows all the SATA ports to function properly.
