This is my first time trying to build a pc and I'm unsure if I need to update my motherboard or not. Pcpartpicker says a few intel h110 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. So I'm hoping that if anyone has ran into this problem before can help me out. Thank you very much.

Yup, that board needs a bios update to support kaby lake, and to do that you would need a CPU that works in it to start with, in this case, a sky lake CPU, so your choices are, get that board with a sky lake CPU, or get a kaby lake CPU and a 200 series intel board, or ask the shop your buying it all from to update the bios on the board for you before sending it, otherwise you'll just have a system that doesnt work.

There are a couple of things you can do here. You can get a the intel core i3 6100. Or you can get the msi b250m pro-vd micro atx lga1151 motherboard. This motherboard is $74.41 on amazon and pretty good with the core i3 7100.
Hopefully this helped and good luck!
