What should I get in combination with this video card for gaming?

I plan on building a gaming PC however my video card is quite expensive, it is a GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB

The CPU I was looking at was the Intel Core i5 6600k 3.5 GHz Quad Core, but it costs about $219

My main concern is FPS, I'd like to have at least around 90 FPS or higher. Would getting a cheaper CPU effect my FPS or is my video card good enough to handle above 90 with a weaker CPU?

Any CPU recommendations that are compatible with an ATX LGA1151 Mobo?

Framerate depends in part on the resolution, and on the games. You have not mentioned what resolution you plan to run, or which games you play. Also, you'll be getting a high refresh rate monitor? You mention wanting at least 90fps is why I ask. I wouldn't spend money on an unlocked CPU unless you plan to overclock it, otherwise it's kind of a waste of money.

And yes, there are cases where a slower CPU will limit your framerate. Some games leverage the CPU a lot, Battlefield 1 and Ghost Recon Wildlands are two recent examples. You can seriously undermine the 1070's performance with an inadequate CPU. You seem to have the right idea of what level of CPU you need though.
