Hello guys, i'm new to this forum and not very good with hardware issues so please excuse me if i miss out on any detail.
Pc specs :
Intel i7 920 @2.67GHz
EX58 UD3R motherboard
Nvdia GTX 1050ti Graphics Card
8GB Ram Windows 10 OSx64

Basically my problem is that my cpu overheats, it used to hit above 90 degrees under load with the stock cpu fan, so i bought a Hyper 212 LED and applied the thermal paste that came with it, now it has reduced to average 80 degrees under load, but is still 50-54 degrees when idle. My pc case has 3 fans one on the top and one on the side and a rear fan , however the rear fan on the case stopped working recently. I live in a pretty warm area with only a fan for room ventilation (around 40 degrees). The GPU however seens unaffected by the ambient temperature as its 37 degrees on idle .
What else can i do to resolve this situation?

Solution
You report idle temperatures; what are they at full load? That's all that's important. Idle at 30°C or 50°C isn't important, but 100°C at full load is a serious issue because the CPU throttles.

Hello, thanks for answering, I'm basing my temprature readings based on the Speedfan app that i run at startup and i applied a drop of thermal paste after wiping off the previously applied thermal paste that came with the stock fan, can incorrect application of thermal paste be the cause of this?, should i reapply just to make sure?

It goes 85 degrees at maximum load and high resource requiring games start stuttering
