Big SSD for low noise or HDD?

Hey everyone,

For my new build I'm tackling my only complaint about my current machine which is noise.

Fan noise isn't such a problem neither is it's temps or the GPU. The only thing that bothers me from time to time is the noise that my HDD makes. It's a Western Digital Blue drive (1Tb @ 7200RPM).

Some say that the noise difference is pretty big between a 5400RPM vs a 7200RPM drive. Is there someone that could speak from experience that this is true or not?

I'm thinking about either going with a 256Gb M.2 nvm drive and one sata 250Gb,
or just the nvm drive and a new 5400RPM HDD.

Greetz.

Solution
A second option would be get a 250 gb 850 Evo and a 480-500gb slower SATA SSD SanDisk ultra II I'm looking at you. Should be the same price as your dual 250 setup and give you 750 gb of pretty fast storage with no noise

^^ has a good suggestion. You might even be able to stretch for a 1tb ssd, like this one:

for ~$250

that would mean a LOT of completely silent, reliable and fast storage!

True, all harddrives make noise. That's why I'm thinking about going SSD only in this build.

I'll think about that, It's certainly a cheaper sollution. :p

I'll put it this way I have a 2tb wd black hard drive. And a 250gb 850 Evo. I refuse to play any game on my HD. The load times and noise tick me off. So basically I only have 250 gb of storage for anything other than pictures and stuff. The noise when accessessing them also annoys me. My next build will be hard drive less
