If you want to be safe I would overclock to 4.0, but I have seen people overclocking to 4.5Ghz with this exact same setup
Keep in mind that overclocking stresses your CPU so it could damage it if you don't work with it wisely.
Make sure you have really good cooling and make sure to monitor you temperatures!

Motherboard is ok to overclock FX-6300 Not for FX-8.

But, if you are considering buying either the cpu or motherboard, reconsider.
FX is obsolete and even when overclocked, the cores are slow.
If you are buying new, look into kaby lake or ryzen depending on your needs.
