GPU Power Requirements

I just took delivery of a new Sapphire Radeon Nitro + RX-580 4GB GPU.
I has 2 power sockets - one 8-pin and one 6-pin.
My PSU (Corsair RM750) has 2 outlets (modular PSU) for PCI-E power, each cable has 2 6+2 pin connectors.
Do I use just one cable and both of its connectors or both cables and one connector from each?
Never had a GPU with 2 power sockets before.

Solution
I would normally agree, though my Antec 750W green didn't like using a single cable. When I tried using a single cable with my R9 280, it wouldn't work. I had to use one plug from each cable to get it to work. Try it with one cable first, and if that fails, try using a plug from both.

Thanks both of you.
I've been working with PC's for 35 years and never come across this.
Even though I don't really plan on OC'ing this card I guess I'll use both the 6-pin and 8-pin.
The way things are going, in 10 years the GPU's will need their own PSU.
