HD temp staying at max

I have a Hitachi HDS721010 whose temperature stays right at 54C once it gets warmed up; once it reaches 54, it stays right there and doesn't waver in either direction. One source says the temp range for the drive is 28C-54C; I found 2 others that say the max temp is 60C.

If the max for this drive really is 54, and that's where it stays all the time, is the drive headed for an early death?

I got the temperature from SpeedFan and Speccy; they both show the same temps at all times. Another interesting thing about that drive is that I disconnected it because it stayed so hot and when I booted back up I thought my other drive wasn't working because the pc doesn't make any noise now! The hitachi was that noisy! (To clarify: the hitachi has Win7 on it and I have a WD10EZEX with Win8. The WD is silent, whereas the hitachi sort of went chunk-chunk when I accessed it.)
The WD temp stays in the mid-30s. The HD bays are in the front of the case, right inside the air vent, and there's a case fan in the rear. It's a Dell 9010MT.
