Power Consumption difference between Mini PC vs Desktop PC

I want to get a mini pc just to use it for navigating and media playing since i normally use a gaming desktop pc with a 500w power supply and i want to use less energy. How much less of energy i would be using if I change to a gigabyte brix mini pc ? And how can I measure it ?

just because you have a 500watt power supply doesn't mean its using 500watts...its more of it can supply up to 500watts deal. but at idle you gaming pc may actually only be using 50 watts of power...It just depends on the hardware.

a mini pc can actually use more then a gaming pc all depending on what is actually installed in it. we would need the full build of both systems to know how much power they use at idle and full load.

something like this tells you what a device is actually using...
