is buying part one by one a good move?

so i recently planned to build a new budget gaming desktop with some part that is able to support future upgrades, but im kinda tight on budget and afraid some part that have the cheapest price in online store out of stock(note that i live in asia). i dont really care for now about the part that i want to get outdated and weak for gaming in the future, because i will do several upgrade after all the part complete and i have enough money for upgrade. what im afraid is defect component like the important part such as mobo, processor or maybe the hard drive, for sure i will get the graphics card last because it is the most expensive part for my build. so is it a good idea buying one by one or i should get some more part each time i purchase to make me able to test some part?

Solution
If you have an old PC to pull parts from then at the very least you should buy the CPU, motherboard, memory and HDD/SSD at the same time, you can then use the old parts to get the PC up and running.
You will need at least the CPU, motherboard and memory to boot into the BIOS to make sure it's all working (assuming you have some form of onboard graphics), this way if anything is DOA or has issues you can return it straight away and get a replacement.

If you are doing a complete new build with no way to reuse old parts then it's best to get the entire system at once.
