So I just built my new gaming pc using a Asus Z270E gaming motherboard, when I tried to connect to the internet for the first time, it didn't show my network but it showed some other people's networks. So I tried to install the WIFI antenna that came in the box and I put it on the top of my PC, I really don't like that I have to have something on top of my PC to connect to the internet, would there be any other way I can connect to the internet without having to put this WIFI antenna on top of my PC? Thanks for your time.

Am I possibly missing a driver that allows me to connect wireless without the WIFI antenna?

If it's new and you can determine that the ethernet port was DOA, you might want to try and return it and get a replacement motherboard.

If it's not the motherboard it could be a bad cable or like you said, a driver.

As for other methods of connecting to the internet, you could try a "USB Ethernet Adapter".

It's not the motherboard because the ethernet port worked just fine when i plugged it in, but the router is far from my room so I don't use a ethernet cable and I play wireless instead. I was looking at other people's build who used this motherboard as well and I didn't see their antenna, maybe because they didn't use it? But then how did they connect to the internet? Anyways, I installed a driver and I want to see if it works without the antenna now. Do you know how to remove the antenna from the back of my PC? Also, thank you for the reply.

EDIT: I removed the antenna and I lost connection, I opened up the network list and there was a few networks listed which none were mine. I still don't understand how other people with this motherboard managed to make the antenna not visible or don't use it at all. Is everyone using ethernet now haha?
