I currently have a AMD FX 6300 and i have a AMD Ryzen 7 otw already got mobo and ram. I was wondering i have a Cooler Master 212 LED with 2 fans on it for my 6300 would it be better to order the AM4 modification for the cooler master 212 or just use the wraith that comes with it? and can i overlock with the wraith??

Solution
If you want it to look cool then wraith RGB cooler, if you want better cooling then 212 evo. Make sure 212 evo u have supports AM4 socket.
You can overclock on wraith too but maybe like 100-200mhz less than on 212.

The 212 am4 bracket is free so you may aswell order one anyway irregardless.
But yeah a twin fan 212 will knock 10c minimum off ryzen load temps compared to the wraith.

If it had been the ryzen 1600 I'd say don't bother but a 1700@3.8GHz or so is a bit too toasty with the wraith IMO.

The difference is mainly felt as more heats needs to be dissipated by the cooler. More the amount of wattage to cool, more the distance between the wraith cooler and hyper 212. However, I must say, the wraith cooler is pretty good for a stock cooler.

True, but with the Ryzen CPUs since they aren't that power hungry, the VRM area of the motherboard gets less toasty. :)

That's really impressive. What are your ambient temps? I have a very similar setup and mine idles at around 42-45 C and gets up to 76 C (66 C avg.) at 100% in Prime95.

I discovered that I was getting different results from different temperature-reporting tools. When I thought I was getting 55 degrees Celsius I was really closer to 66 degrees. Never above that though. Ambient temperature in that room is very low 20s. I have since switched to a Cryorig A40 Ultimate AIO, which I really like.
