I have an doubt on i7-7700k processor
I thought of buying that and overlocking with it. But recently people started complaining about that it has heating issues and it is not solved by intel( they are saying that we didnt say to over lock it, so no prob with us)
I don't know what to do, I am building a PC with gigabyte 1080ti extreme, I thought more processor speed are good. Since i7-7700k has 4.0ghz, thought of buying it. So I need a answer for that or give me processor same like that

Overclocking in never a guarantee and there is no magic number for it. Start at 4.2GHz and increment in small steps and test until the system is overheating or it is unstable. People like to cheat and go straight to some high overclock because they saw someone else do it on Youtube and then come here complaining of system crashes or overheating.

The 7700k is still the best gaming cpu on the market and you can still get very good overclocks. Only those pushing high voltages to get the last few mhz out of the cpu are having issues. I really wouldn't worry. All that's happened is the cpu would have been a slightly better overclocker with better thermal design. It's not really an issue.

That's not new to the 7700k that started with the 3770k/3570k and has been that way with every chip since. The 7700k is just so highly binned that minor flaws in the paste process are magnified.

If you're going to run that 1080ti at 4k ryzen is always an option. A 1700/b350 setup is usually cheaper all in than a GPU 7700k/z270 setup.
