Hi. I'm planning on upgrading my current system:
I'm only gonna change the CPU which means I'm gonna change the motherboard and RAM.
My current system:
Core i5 3550 3.3GHz
ASRock z77 Pro3
8GB DDR3 Ram
GTX 970 (keeping it for now cause it runs the games I play very well)
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 (Keeping it cause it's awesome :D)

The CPU I'm gonna get is Ryzen 1700.
I want help clarifying if the components work together or not.
# Motherboard: MSI TOMHAWK ARCTIC B350 ( Amazon )
-This is the only motherboard that fits my budget and has decent features. Also
Amazon international shipping FTW

#RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz ( Amazon )
- The cheapest 16GB DDR4 ram I found.

Good to go or there's something I need to know?
Also I'm guessing I need to buy Windows 10 again right?

Thanks.

I believe that your RAM is the Corsair DDR4 3000 kit at C15, as expected. I have seen your RAM and these uses Hynix chips which are of the same type as the RAM in my current build.

I suggest you run 1.400V on the DDR4 RAM, set SoC to 1.150V, and run timings of
CL16 Twrc18...

That RAM is not in the QVL for Ryzen , from my experience, and my own Corsair DDR4 3200, XMP at 1.35V wont work. Mine at 1.35V hits 2933c14. Expect that 3000 kit to hit 2666c14 on Ryzen.

This is because Ryzen IMC wants 1T RAM.

3200 is possible on my RAM, 1.625V at 3200 c14-15-15-18-36-75. Dont go over those dangerous voltages!

Maybe that kit can too on Ryzen. And Ryzen benefits heavily from RAM speed.

I suggest you run 1.400V on the DDR4 RAM, set SoC to 1.150V, and run timings of
CL16 Twrc18 Trrc18 RowPrecharge18 RASActTime38 Trc68
16-18-18-18-38-68 @2933MHz. This is what I got from my DDR4 3200 C16 kit at 1.400V. DDR4 3000 C15 will do the same.

These sticks need loose Row Precharge to run with stability. I'm at RowPrecharge18 @3200 @1.625V!

If not possible, increase RAM to 1.425V, 1.450V, 1.475V
Then if still not possible, increase SoC to 1.175V.
If not, loosen secondary timings to CL16-19-19-22-75, repeat.
If done, then you may want to try for 3200, but its highly unlikely unless you are willing to push insane voltages and get a RAM air cooler.
But at least at 2933, you are getting up to a 5% boost, and you are running RAM at rated speed.

For Ryzen's infinity fabric and performance, RAM speed matters the most, then CAS Latency, then RAM timings.

Remember, Ryzen RAM runs on 1T all the time! This is very taxing on the RAM, you need the Vitamin V!
Good luck. :)
