Trying to decide what to do with my PC?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, haven't used this site in years.

I have been trying to decide recently between sticking with AMD and just upgrading to the best I can do with the FX line of CPUs, or switching to Intel(which I assume would pretty much mean building a new PC).

My current specs are:
CPU: AMD FX-4130
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 750
RAM: 8gb of whatever came with the PC
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Other things: 1TB HDD, and whatever liquid cooler and PSU the computer came with

I am assuming my budget would be between $600 and $1,000(preferably cheaper, I'm a full time college student, currently lacking a job). I use my PC mostly for gaming, watching YouTube, and some light music production(I say light because I currently use the school's computers more). I tend to mostly play older games like SWTOR, but have been slowly becoming interested in games like Playerunkown's Battlegrounds, and BDO.

Any suggestions? I was leaning more toward upgrading to an AMD FX-8350, and then just building a better gaming PC in the distant future if I was still interested in the more demanding games, but not sure.

I currently regret listening to a random guy on Steam and going with AMD :/

option 1

upgrade using the following parts (yes I checked your motherboard can handle the CPU):

CPU: AMD - FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($139.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($111.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital - Blue 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($89.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB SC GAMING Video Card ($189.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $531.75

or stay with AMD and get something really worth the money your pour into it instead of an old designed FX series.

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($195.69 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M...
