It is not a matter of being outdated.
You cannot put an intel CPU in a socket made for an AMD CPU and vice versa.:pfff: Ultimate square peg in a round hole.

When you decide on a make/model of motherboard, go to a ram web site and access their ram selection app.
Enter your motherboard and you will get a list of supported ram kits.
