What part should I upgrade to gain fps

Hello, I just built a new build last week. The system excluding keyboard, mouse, and monitor costing about 450$. I know with budget builds you typically get what you pay for, but I got a 1050 ti 4gb card brand new and reviews have been showing this card to run the newest games on 1080 no problem.. My monitor is old but not bad.. AOC Brand 1600x900 max... Specs are below...

-2x4 gb RAM corsair vengeance 2133 mhz
-gtx MSI 1050 ti gaming x 4gb
-asus prime b250 plus MOBO
-Intel pentium kabylake 4560 3.5 ghz
-750w bronze thermaltake PS
-120gb SSD w/ 600gb storage HD

I have a cooler block for my processor and 2 system fans about to add 2 more..

Solution
I remember Far Cry 3 had issue with latency on a lot of systems. Try playing with V-sync on and off to see what is best, but the reality is that this is mostly a game issue. You might also experiment with DX 9 vs DX 11.

I think you should upgrade the processor because the one you have currently is only 2 Cores. Try to get a i5 or maybe even an i7 if you really want great performance.

while g4560 only have 2 core, it can hyperthread to 4 thread so it had almost the same performance as i3
to get more fps, GPU and CPU upgrade is usually the viable choice, bcz if u upgrade 1 of them, the old one will hold down the new one
well u can go for i7 7700 + GTX 1080 TI if u have the budget to go there (it's the best u can get with that mobo, getting the k version is useless since that mobo can't OC it)

I'm getting good frames on most games like rocket league, dead island, titanfall multiplayer, tomb raider... But when I play far cry 3 I get some trouble.. It can play 80 fps with medium settings I just think that's lower than what the system can do..

@madmatt30

The system runs very smooth, video editing, streaming, running multiple problems isn't an issue at all. I love my new build, I was just curious on what would be the best place for an upgrade to gain more frames in some games. I wasn't sure if maybe I'm missing a driver or if my bios would need some tweaking just to gain the maximum frames..

Gpu is at the latest driver though.. Pretty sure mobo is also..

If your monitor only goes to 900p max, then I don't imagine that it runs higher than 60 Hz. As such, even if you could manage getting up to 100 fps, your monitor isn't really going to show you any difference in improvement. Right now I'd say it's better that you get a bigger monitor with a better resolution. I'd rather have my system play 1080p and 65 fps than 900p and 80 fps. There's debate on the topic, but there's no real need to have your fps outstrip your monitor's maximum Hz.

Yea sometimes I'm getting 60-70 frames on Far Cry 3 which is the game I'm having trouble with..but it looks choppy.. I guess I'll go buy a new monitor asap. I heard the dvi connections go up to 144 hz

Can you explain explain little more please? I definitely agree it's only happening to one game... and sometimes when my frames drop I can hear my hard drive thinking, I've ran a hard drive check and it's fine so Idk what the issue is..

The problem is latency.

FPS is simply a count of how many unique frames are created over a 1 second timespan. However, your monitor expects a unique frame every 16.67 ms. If this deadline is missed, the previous frame is repeated. So if the system can't meet this frame deadline, you skip frames, resulting in stutter even if FPS is over 100.

The problem is you have two relatively weak components. The CPU is a bit on the weak side, with only two physical cores, and certain games (Far Cry 3 being a prime candidate) will struggle on it. On the other hand, the GTX 1050 isn't considered a top-tier GPU, and will struggle on certain games (again, Far Cry 3 is a prime candidate) at much above medium settings.

The processor isn't the best but it performs close to the i3 because of the hyperthreading. And the 1050 ti gaming x 4gb isn't a poor card at all, I agree I couldve saved for a better processor, i5 or i7, but the gpu should be able to handle far cry 3 @1080p
