I'm stumped...I'll try and keep it brief without missing too many details.

Specs:
Intel - Celeron G3900 2.8GHz Dual-Core Processor
Asus - Z170-PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Crucial - 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
Gigabyte - Radeon RX 570 4GB AORUS 4G Video Card
Deepcool - 750W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply
1TB HDD
Windows 10 Home
Age: 3 weeks. No troubles.

PC was working fine under load. I stopped what I was doing and left it on idle. When I came back about 8 hours later the monitor was blank and wouldn't wake. I forced system off and restarted. Went to AMD Settings to fiddle with WattMan (as all settings get lost after forced reboot) but got a BSOD while it tried to load (THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER). First time seeing that. Rebooted and same thing happened again trying to load AMD Settings. Same BSOD. Went back into Windows. Ran DDU in Safe Mode to wipe drivers. Ran CCleaner. Installed latest drivers, but when it restarted it usually automatically launches a browser saying AMD drivers successfully installed. It didn't. I went to load AMD Settings anyway but got a message saying no driver can be found. Checked Device Manager and RX570 is there with yellow "!". Error Code 43. I tried manually installing the driver. It said already up-to-date. Stumped...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry if that part wasn't clear (I said I installed the latest drivers after DDU and CCleaner). I have already followed those steps.

Have you manually searched the HDD/SSD after using DDU for any left over AMD files? If not please try this to see if it helps. Also you may want to try downloading the Driver again as some times it becomes corrupt during the download. This could account for it not installing properly.

No, I've not searched for left over files. Which locations do you suggest?

I tried installing the driver version that was previously working too (I still had the unpacked download file saved), but same issue

Hi,

Try remove the card and reinsert it to allow the system to refresh the pcie.

On short of suggesting the video card is at fault which looks likely/ to trying it another machine, this popped up in a search of mine;

http://forum.gigabyte.us/thread/1157/gaming-4gaorus-graphics-working-correctly

Security/uac might have been set too high for the above person in that thread for Aorus to function properly, thought you'd be interested if in case.

Security doesn't explain how a system that was ok, then was found problematic 8hrs later i know, but possibly could be the reason for now being unable to reinstall drivers properly.

The yellow explanation mark to my best guess is the system knows it's there or was there but now the card isn't functioning properly. Installing drivers if it were working properly wouldn't be such a hassle.

Are you using a power surge protector? 8hrs is a long time and a power surge could have happened.

Try remove the card and clear cmos and begin again. I don't believe drivers is the cause of the yellow ! in device manager especially you saying the driver you're installing from previously worked.

Thanks for the link. I'm fairly sure it's not the same sort of problem but will fiddle with the security to see if it helps (I'll try anything at this stage!)

I'll give CMOS a go and probably fresh install of Win10.
If that doesn't work I'll try the card in my other PC. I've already tried reseating it.
I do have a surge protector (no idea if there a way to see if it was triggered though).

Oh ok. I don't think it was triggered then.
I'll report back tonight when I get home and try these things out.

Thanks
