Hi guys,

I bought this gaming PC a couple of years back and it was okay at running games but it got progressively worse since and I know that laptops aren't really meant to last that long and that they cannot stay amazing forever but it was never amazing to me and it's quite a shame. I wonder if there is anything that can be done to this gaming laptop so it can run games smoother?

I don't even play a lot of games but that's only because the super low FPS I get it's really annoying.
When I play Borderlands 2 I get about 15 FPS so that's really bad. When I play Heroes of Newerth I get around 20 FPS. Other games get low FPS and lag a lot too. The only game that seems to be running smoothly is Minecraft.

Here's my specs;

It's Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 15.6-inch Laptop

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M
Video Card: #2 Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
RAM: 6.0 GB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (build 15063), 64-bit

Thanks for your help and advice.

Solution
Make sure the games are using the nVidia card, you can probably force it in the nVidia control panel. Make sure system is cleaned out, with the age of it you should remove the heatsink and apply new thermal paste.
