Hay guys.

As the title describes currently have an issue with a new build.

I press the power button, it powers on for 1-2 seconds, does this 3-10 times then boots normally without issue. There's no real pattern, sometimes its shorter sometimes longer.

ASUS Z270F
ASUS 1080 Strix
16GB Gskill Trident.
850AX Corsair PSU
Samsung SSD
H115i cooler.

Thanks.

This is normally down to a memory issue, its trying to memory train, what settings have you set for your ram in the bios ?

Also like to add that, when I clear CMOS, it boots in bios start-up every time without fail to launch. The problem occurs when I close/exit bios and boot normally to windows.

Yeah updated to 906? I believe it's the latest.

Is it possible that the RAM not being compatible with the motherboard could be the problem?

Thanks.

it did cross my mind and It is possible, but ive sworn by G.Skill for many years now as its never really given me any problems, and used it in loads of ASUS boards.

EDIT: ive just had a look at the QVL and your ram is on it., pretty much, ignore the last letter of your product code for your ram as thats just for the colour, the GTZ means its trident Z, the R just means its the RGB version.

That makes sense.

So motherboard fault then? I'm currently using the computer, apart from the booting issue; the computer works fine (10 hours stable).

Is it just a cold boot issue ? ie, if you just restart does it restart fine ?

No if I just do a restart in windows, it will power cycle the same. Sometimes its 1-2 power cycles then boots. Sometimes 10-20; sometimes more.

The only time it boots normally is after clearing CMOS (cmos jumper).

Thanks for the help.

last questions, did it come with the latest bios on it, or did you flash it upto the latest bios, and if so, did it do the same when you first built the system ?

Yeah I built the system on the 20/06. Bios was 200/500 something(?) It did the same issue. Power cycling.

Bread boarded it to find a solution. With just motherboard and CPU installed. Same power cycle.

21/06 updated bios to 906, still power cycling.

Even from the start, its posted to windows without issue. Even passing Memtest and Prime.

Very strange issue, its got to be the board, it wouldnt pass prime or memtest if it was the CPU or ram, the graphics card is on the support list, and supports Corsair PSU's.
