All USB ports being disabled because of external hard drive.

Hello,

I have been having an issue recently where when I plug my external 2TB USB 3.0 hard drive into my front panel USB 3.0 header, all my USB ports (including USB 2.0) stop working until I restart the PC. These ports include the ones on the motherboard which stop working.

Sometimes the USB drive stays connected for a while until I start transferring files to it which results in all the USB ports disconnecting again.

I am wondering if anyone can help me.

Well, first thing I would do is not use that external drive and get it replaced. You can try another cable. Did you test things already with different devices and ports, that is the only drive that causes issues? Is it only the front USB 3 ports that cause the issue? Did you test the drive in other ports?
