Computer shuts off without warning, have tried almost everything (video included).

Hello,

I've scavenged this forum for answers on this issue and no one else's solutions have worked for me. Here is the scenario: Whenever I play a certain game (Player Unknown's Battlegrounds), my computer will shut off randomly during gameplay. There's no predicting how long it takes to shut off from when I start playing, but it has gotten obnoxious now. I am able to play Battlefield 1 on Ultra, and even run 3DMark for however long I want without any issues. After the computer crashes, my motherboard & GPU light will flash multiple times in what I'm assuming is an attempt to turn on/off over and over again. The amount of times it takes for it to fail before successfully starting up is inconsistent (I will provide a video for this).

Here is my setup:
1) ASUS ROG-STRIX-RX580-O8G-GAMINGOC Edition
2) MSI Pro Series Intel Z270 DDR4 HDMI USB 3 SLI ATX Motherboard (Z270 SLI PLUS)
3) Intel Core i5-7600K LGA 1151 Desktop Processors (BX80677I57600K)
4) EVGA SuperNOVA 850 B2, 80+ BRONZE 850W
5) SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB Solid State Drive

Here are the steps I've tried:
1) Purchased & installed a new power supply with more power (600W -> 850W)
2) Checked all the cables & made sure there were no exposed wires or screws touching the mobo.
3) Reset windows & re-installed motherboard & graphics card drivers via the windows 10 recovery tool.
4) Updated my bios to the latest version & reinstalled mobo drivers
5) Checked CPU & GPU temperatures while playing that specific game using HWINFO. They jump to around 60C and stay around the 45-55C range
6) Checked generic windows system log (found nothing descriptive about my crashes)
7) Replaced CMOS battery
8) Attempted to run one memory stick at a time (computer crashed while playing on both sticks individually i.e. I installed one 8 gig stick at a time to single out a bad ram stick)
9) Ran Memtest86 for one pass with no errors (I'll probably run more passes)
10) Ran Intel's CPU diagnostic tool.

*On only one instance of the game crashing did I ever see an error message. It was one of those windows popup dialog and I could only get the wording "System Error..." for about half a second and then the computer shut off again. It pains me so much that I wasn't able to see the details of that message in time.

I'm really running out of ideas here. Please let me know if you can think of anything and I'll be sure to try it. Thanks!

Edit: Here is the video of its behavior right after it crashes: https://streamable.com/5dmkx

This is a particularly _bad_ instance of it as the computer usually turns itself back on successfully after one or two attempts. Me twiddling behind the power cable a couple of times is me first turning switching the power supply off, observing the behavior, then switching it back on again. Notice that the computer attempts to turn on the moment I flip the switch back on the power supply without me pressing the power button.

Solution
Hello... GOOD B D
1) Sometimes your GPU case screw will pull the GPU out of the MB slot... I have to bend the GPU bracket to get a forceless/un moveable fit with the MB. try test without the case screw.

2) I Use Rubbing alcohol and cotton swab to clean the GOLD connectors on the GPU before inserting into the MB... DO NOT try and clean the MB PCIe slots... you can make things worse there.
Hello... Good tests and documentation... Check your APP and Security sections of your "Event Viewer" too... it is a OS data logger, so it's possible to clear those logs to reduce clutter there, gathered over time, and focus on the current triggered events. B /

so far your DATA seems to point to the game as culprit. B /

Update: It is now shutting off and on & doing the pattern on the video without playing any game. @IronSounds thank you for the insight. The game might not be the culprit anymore as it's shutting off at random. Maybe my power/reset button is shorting? I can't imagine how it went from not doing that to doing it frequently without touching any of the FPanel connectors...I'll try disconnecting my reset sw connector and see what happens.

Cool. So here is an initial log I found in the events viewer I had after the crash.

I am googling this crash keyword (0x8000400000000002 ) at the moment and am starting to see a couple of users with similar issues. Hopefully I don't go in another rabbit hole. I'll follow through with all the advice on their threads and will keep this thread updated with my results. Thanks. (There were no logged Application & Security errors/warnings during the time of the logged system crash)

Hello... well... kernel 41 errors are the OS not being shut down "Properly"

1) either by you, such as... because of a OS/APP freeze?, and Power supply switch operation.
2) or some hardware/electrical failure, connection, device, power supply voltage to your system?

So look close to messages before the Kernel 41 errors to see if you can get a clue to the hardware device "not reporting" "watch dog" or "Not responding". B /

Update: Out of impatience I drove to Best Buy & purchased two more sticks of ram to see if my existing ram sticks were bad. They were not....the game crashed again. I'm frustrated.

Signs are pointing to replace my motherboard as I've replaced almost everything else besides my GPU & CPU...at this rate I'll have an entirely new computer made out of different components soon. lol!

@IronSounds, I'll try to diagnose power issues. I really hoped that getting a new power supply would have fixed that, but I guess not.

Hello... I understand your frustration... "open your Mind"...and not your wallet yet B D...

1) I would suggest un-plugging everything from the MB, non essential extra drives, media card readers, and extra card slots? ...and Disabling your SOUND, LAN. Wireless chips on the MB for the next boot. B / if ya need a mental break take it... so you can do some serious "trouble shooting" B D

2) Another Software Option would be to strip DOWN/remove the WIN10 OS of all the "Crapware" that is running OR trying to Run in the background of your OS... this has helped people too... with these 'Mystery" shut downs https://www.howtogeek.com/224798/how-to-uninstall-windows-10s-built-in-apps-and-how-to-reinstall-them/

Wow, so I ran the game on my intel motherboard graphics for about 15 minutes and it did not crash. That is not conclusive, but definitely more stable than when my graphics card is being used to run that particular game. How may I diagnose problems with my GPU if temperature is not an issue? I'm going to try to flash my gpu bios & also take a very close look at the pins on my pci e slot.
