I got/found a Dell Poweredge T320 that I would like to turn in to a home NAS. The Oddity that is the only stander connector on MB are a 24 Pin power, & 2 SATA ports (0ne lable ODD1/TBU & ODD2/TBU which should work for a Boot SSD). This is my ?, Is 24 pin power connector true stander connector? So I can use a dual PSU adapter to turn on a SFX PSU. Want to add power for active Quit cooling, extra drive support, & GPU if need. Going to use 2 5.25 to 4 2.5 icydock hotswap bay for the drives. Then mod the bottom front HD mount's to house a second PSU. An add venting to bottom for air follow. This is so I can add storage as need instead of, using a pre-build NAS (diskless) with limited expansion.

Confused why you need additional Power to handle a NAS server. The stock power is pretty good (http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/t320_spec_sheet.pdf)

Power supply
Platinum efficiency, hot-plug, redundant 495W or 750W power supply
Silver efficiency, cabled 350W power supply

Even the 350W unit will drive 8 HDDs during spinup. Fans are not exactly high wattage. For comparison my 5 drive NAS array runs on a 140w PSU.

It's not a Power oddity but is an issue where to take/connect for power. The PSU only has 2 Sata power connector, 1 24 pin main, 1 8 Pin for CPU, 1 8 pin for other power to MB & a 12 pin connectors for priority expansion Back plan. I going to ditch the SAS HD's & it's Raid card for SATA SSD & notebook SSHD with two SATA Raids. It make no sense paying $60+ for 12 pin to Sata adapter or paying $200 plus for larger like size PSU when it's limits connection options. It for a home Nas so paying more for less with SAS HD is pointless, where SATA HD's & SSHD start at a much better price for storage. An the MB only has 1 4 pin fan header, 1 funky 5 pin fan header 1 onboard USB port (Max 5VDC @ 1AMP), & 2 SATA ports. Best example: IT would like buying a Xbox one or PS4 then have the same price just to get a controller for it.
