Network connection problems after using Hamachi

Hi y'all. :)

I made a huge mistake today and installed Log me in Hamachi VPN software.

A friend and I were having problems playing ARMA 3 online on our Windows 10 PC's so we downloaded and installed Hamachi.

After playing we exited Hamachi and then we experienced problems with our internet connection. At first the internet didn't work at all and neither would Skype. Skype's status was constantly 'Connecting' and it never connected.

I have tried the following: I disabled the Hamachi network adapter in network connections and the internet worked again but not skype. I also noticed that even though the Hamachi adaptor had been disabled it kept on re-enabling it's self.

I uninstalled Hamachi and Skype still wouldn't connect. I also did a system restore and Skype just will not connect. I read somewhere that IPv6 needed to be unckecked so tried that too. I also read about something to do with the routing table but I'm no good with networking and didn't understand.

I use a wired network and all addresses are static. I switched to wi-fi to see if that made a difference and it does not.

So I'm completely stuck at the moment. Skype is the only thing I know isn't working but that doesn't mean that there aren't any other things which may not work when I come to use them later.

I hope I have provided enough info. But if I haven't please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try my best to give you any info you need.

Hamachi obviously changed some settings somewhere. I'd just like to change them back. Uninstalling and performing a system restore haven't fixed it for me and I have no idea what I need to do and how to do it.

I'm very angry that this software messed things up. It's my fault I know but ARRRRRRGH!!!

So if anyone can help me out with this I'd be really grateful.

Many thanks in advance. :)

Solution
Hi. :)

I found out how to change the priority network adapters by disabling automatic metric in advanced tcp/ip properties and allocating a low number for higher priority adapters and lower for low priority ones. This has stopped the hamachi adapter from taking over my normal default connection.

Anyway. This thread can be marked as solved but I don't know how to do that so if someone can help that would be great. Thanks.

I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype, reset McAfee LiveSafe firewall to defaults and also disabling McAfee firewall. Skype still wouldn't connect.

P.S. I wasn't sure whether to post this in software or networking so if here is the wrong place then please will someone move it to the correct section for me? Thx. :)

OMG!!! Skype's suddenly connected.

Your gonna laugh..... I thought about checking whether Skype was down on Downdetector.co.uk and some people said that they were having problems with it constantly connecting too!

Now whether this was the reason or not I don't know. However it's the most likely reason I'm sure. Only time will tell. :) If it was the reason then I'm sorry if you have been spending (wasting) your time trying to find things out for me. But then again there are a lot of posts online about Skype and/or internet connection issues relating to Hamachi. If your interested then one of those posts is here: https://community.logmein.com/t5/Hamachi/Hamachi-conflicts-with-internet-network-adapter-conflict/td-p/60088

Anyway... if someone could still possibly tell me if Hamachi does change routing tables or anything else network wise I'd really like to know what it changes (if anything) and how to make sure the settings are back to what they should be after uninstalling Hamachi. And if anyone can shed some light as to why the Hamachi network adaptor keeps re-enabling itself after I disable it, then that would be great. (maybe those answers are in that thread somewhere but if they are I either didn't understand or I completely missed them altogether).

Thanks again. :)
