New RAM recognized by BIOS, won't boot.

OS: Windows 10
MOBO: MSI 970A-G43
Processor: AMD FX-6300
New Memory: HyperX Fury 2x8GB DDR3 1866 CL10

I am trying to install the memory mentioned above, but can't get the PC to boot. The BIOS will recognize the ram and the correct speed (1866), but will give a "repair" error (0xc0000098 or 0xc0000221) when I try to boot from my Intel SSD.

I tried to boot from my Windows & install cd from a usb disk drive, got the same error.
I then installed a Windows 10 installer to a USB HDD and tried that, also got the same error. (Tried the HDD on my laptop and it boots fine)

I have cleared the CMOS (both with the short and by removing the battery) and tried each stick of ram in each port (both together and by themselves)

I gave my old ram to my sister before installing this but am having it shipped back to hopefully see if perhaps I just bought defective ram.

Running out of ideas here, any help is appreciated :)

It seems like these errors you are experiencing are related to a Windows 10 boot data error. You should try the old memory again, and if the problem does not persist, it would likely be that your new RAM is faulty. However, if the errors continue to persist, even with the old memory, you may have to format your drive/s and re-install windows from scratch.

Are you running a RAID array? what kind of storage device are you using? are you dual booting and/or have multiple OS's installed? If you have a spare computer, try connecting the drive to it first, simply to backup data, and to format the drive to attempt a new installation. Before you continue with a format however, Post more detailed system specs, most importantly your drive setup, boot mode and any other OS's or hardware changes you may have performed.

Hope this helps!
