Hi there, this is a media server project and I just gave power to my motherboard but no video comes out of the onboard HDMI?

I installed a Plextor SSD 128GB, 16GB RAM, Ryzen CPU, and WD 3.5 HDD. When I power up the LEDs light up and there are a few that are blue that all light up...nothing comes up on the TV during POST.

I am not using a separate GPU, and I cannot view the BIOS settings because I cannot see what is going on...I hear the HDD chugging...but it is BNIB so there is nothing on it. I have tried unplugging methodically but same result.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks -B

Solution
With Ryzen you have to use a graphics card. There are no Ryzen CPUs that have been released with integrated graphics. The motherboard may have video ports but they aren't connected to anything with a current Ryzen CPU.

Hi Kanewolf, I really appreciate the quick response, but I must admit that I am very disappointed because I thought it would...now I need to buy a video card that generates minimal heat. The HD-PLEX media server case I purchased is designed for passive cooling. Can you recommend a video card that I can use that supports 4K but uses little power?

You should have gone Intel if integrated graphics was a requirement. Lesson learned to pay closer attention to the specifications. Ryzen WILL eventually have models with integrated graphics, just not yet.

Yes you are absolutely correct, but in my defence the literature is misleading as the AMD4 Biostar MB I purchased says it has integrated 4K video...why say this if you need a graphics card? To me this is very misleading but I am not an expert at building PC's...I have mostly worked on kits, NOT built from scratch like this project. So yes a learning experience but a costly one at that. I figured AMD was half the price of a comparable Intel, but now that I know I need to purchase a graphics card I would have just went with an Intel.
