Turned computer on without having 24 pin connector all the way in, what could be wrong?

TLDR first.
So here's the short story; my little brother turned on and started using his PC without having the 24 pin connector all the way in, and his pc is still making a buzzing noise even though I've plugged it all the way in now. His PC is brand new and it was working fine the day before. It seems to be working fine other than the noise till now.

Okay, long story; I built my little brothers computer here the other day, and everything worked perfectly fine the first day, really quiet and everything. Yesterday I was going to hide some of the cables on the back of the PC because it was really in the way. I took the 24 pin connector from the Psu out too, but it was kinda hard to put it in again so I didn't get it all done before I had to pick him up from school. When we got back I told him not to do anything or turn in on until I came back in after walking the dogs. But when I came back after being outside he had indeed started the computer on and it was making a pretty loud constant "buzzing noise?", so I turned it off and the 24 pin connector wasn't clipped all the way in. I pushed it in eventually, and turned the PC back on. It's making a buzzing noise (not nearly as loud though) now that it didn't make the first day, so I assume something might be broken/wrong still. Other than that the pc have had no crashes and seem to work fine. Any suggestions on what could go wrong? I need to check later if I can find out what component that is making the noise, but I figured I could ask before he goes back to school.

Solution
Try to pinpoint where the buzzing sound is coming from (ie which component, might even be a loose component causing vibration).

Incidentally, I don't think the partially-connected 24-pin cable has/had anything to do with this issue, more likely just a coincidence as there's no logical or technical reason why that buzzing would continue after making the connection secure.
Hello.. Typically in the "professional industry" you have what is called "lockout tag out" and is a maintenance safety program to prevent harm to people and equipment under and during repairs... in your case, maybe removing/hiding the Power plug from the PS and the Wall may have been enough to stop the 'little one" from dis-obeying your orders... or a BIG sign that say "DO NOT Touch- Under Repair" B )

Basically your are right... you need to determine where the 'buzzing noise" is coming from... hopefully it is just a wire rubbing too close to one of the fan blades? I would suggest rolling up a piece of paper and place it to your ear for a detail search in your/his Computer.
