Computer Type: Custom Build
GPU: SAPPHIRE NITRO Radeon™R9 FURY 4G HBM
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X

Motherboard: Asus B350-Plus

RAM: HyperX Fury Black 2x8GB DDR4, 2666MHz, HX426C15FBK2/16
PSU: Corsair CX 650m/650W

Operating System & Version: Windows 10 64bit (Version 1703)

GPU Drivers: 17.6.1

Chipset Drivers: Not sure.

Background Applications: Not important to the problem.

Description of Original Problem: When I first built the PC I couldn't get it to post.

Troubleshooting: Using another stick of RAM at 2133Mhz seems to have goten it to post. After getting into the bios I realized that the RAM Speed was set to auto. After changing it to 2666 and putting back the old RAM, it still didn't post. I decided to set the RAM speed to 2400 and it actualy posted.

Now here is the deal. I read somewhere that in order to get my ram speed up to 2666 I need to turn on DOCP. The problem is that I no longer have the other RAM stick, so if it doesn't post I have no way to get into the BIOS. Even if I take out the battery and reset the CMOS it will just go into auto again, and we all know how well that went. Any way I can recover from the no post thing if I manage to get it stuck in that?

Thanks!

Is your bios upto date ? there is a bios update on the way that fixes most ram problems, it contains AGESA 1.0.0.6 from AMD, however, I wouldnt mess with your ram again just yet, im not even sure id flash the bios as this will reset the system and without that backup stick, you may not get it back up and running again.

So before messing, try and get your hands back on that other stick of ram, then you wont need to worry about flashing the bios or messing with ram configs.

Yup, that's what I was worried about. If I update it might switch back to auto, which is even worse since I won't be able to see if the update even succeeded.

Oh, I almost forgot. Thanks for the tip!

Its always recommended to load bios defaults before flashing anyway, and after loading defaults, you need to save and exit for them to take effect, at that point theres no knowing if it will come back on, bit of a catch 22, it may go well and work fine, but personally, I wouldnt try it without that backup stick.
