hey so i need a computer so assignments and light gaming like dota 2 cs go and overwatch. i do however want to play these games at max settings or near that. i made this build on pcpartpicker.. can someone more knowledgeable than me tell me if this works and if i can get away with spending less than this without dropping significant performance?

I pasted your initial build and my revised build below, I was getting $900 for you build, not $700, most likely because of taxes/shipping.

The games you listed are not that CPU intensive so we want to maximize the GPU while getting a CPU that won't bottleneck. The pentium G4560 is probably the best performance per dollar CPU on the market today and actually is not that much slower than the i5-6500. So went with a G4560 and an RX 580-4GB, this will be much faster.

Also changed the RAM to DDR4 2400MHz C15 with two sticks so it can run in dual channel mode (slightly faster). You have two available slots on the mobo in case you want to go to 16GB...

The 850 EVO is a fast SSD and is highly recommended but will not affect gaming performance. I believe a better choice for you is a slightly slower one which is larger, went with the 275GB MX300, same price.

Changed the PSU to the higher rated S12II Seasonic which is 620W, same price.

Change your monitor to a 24" with a faster response time, good reviews.

If you can afford and find 1060 or 480/580 for under 200$ then do it.
